It’s rare to encounter a carefree child dreaming of monastic life. A literature enthusiast, he wielded a pen from the age of 8 – his collection of sketches, “Hymn of Kindness,” is a desk companion for many adults. His childhood dream was fulfilled in adolescence – bedridden with a malignant tumor diagnosis, 17-year-old Nugzar Milorava was tonsured as a monk with the blessing of our Holiness and given the name Andria.
He was compassionate from a young age, never hesitating to aid the needy… “Time will pass and I’ll grow up, and when I do, I’ll surely help the poor, the homeless, the unfortunate. Perhaps I can really do this, perhaps… and soothe my pain” – these are his words, written at the age of 12. He bequeathed to his parents the care of children and adolescents afflicted with malignant diseases.
The longing for their only child is alleviated by caring for more than 700 children and their families. They fulfill their son’s will to the letter – “Monk Andria’s Foundation” is an extension of Monk Andria’s life, and children with malignant tumors feel safe in his namesake “Happy House.” After all, the “Happy House” is tailored to their wishes and needs! Here, they selflessly and tirelessly care for their health, education, entertainment, and rest.
We manage all of the above through your support, our donors, as well as through our tireless work.
“Monk Andria’s Charitable Foundation” was officially registered on January 19, 2012, though it had been functioning unofficially before that, serving Monk Andria’s will, which became the reason for the foundation’s establishment.
